Hello and welcome to The Socratic Post.
There are many places on the Internet where anyone can share their opinions. Yet few places exist where the ultimate goal is to arrive at constructive and reasonable conclusions, without igniting unrelated biases or emotionally driven responses. Too many blogs and discussion boards are reduced to aimless and fruitless battles, often polarized by larger political underpinnings that people generally fail to identify. In light of this shamefully ineffective intellectual landscape comes the inspiration for The Socratic Post.
The objective of this forum is to guide our discussions in ways that follow a Socratic direction, which is to use our natural reasoning ability to determine the worth of our ideas and institutions. Accordingly, The Socratic Post will be a place where a high level of intellectual integrity will allow for all viewpoints to be equally considered, no matter how ridiculous, or sensational they may initially seem. As opposed to offhanded remarks and feigned interest, we will not treat subjects lightly. We will treat them with the care and respect they deserve, just as Socrates would have done.
